I love bags. Who doesn't? But ever since google chrome advert featuring Julie Deane founder of The Cambridge Satchel Company there seems to be a school satchel revival on the high streets of Britain.
I got my yellow satchel from Accessorize, I'd quite like one from the Cambridge Satchel Company but I think my Accessorize one is just as good and actually very well made and the bright yellow colour makes it a great statement piece. Plus a satchel is just the right size for all my girls bits and pieces (lifes essentials- red lipstick, notebook and the iphone). I find that anything bigger means I just cart around more things so for day to day this bag is the ideal size!
However, as much as I love my yellow Accessorize one, what is great about the Cambridge Satchel Company is that they are still British made and according to a recent article I read, always will be. Julie's story is also really inspirational too; borne out of monetary necessity to move her daughter out of the school she was getting bullied in, she spotted a gap in the market for old school satchels. Inspired by the Harry Potter film for the overall look of the bag she went on to build the business up from scratch with an initial start up of just £600 to a company that is coveted by celebs and top bloggers alike. I mean she's not my mum but I feel all sort of proud when I see that advert! Just goes to show what passion and determination can achieve!
Here are some of my favourite bags and the Google Chrome advert.
What can I say I'm a sucker for a satchel!
Ps the song on the advert is by Alex Winston and is called "Velvet Elvis"
